The Home Of The Wood Fired Scotch Tub

What is a scotchtub?

A Scotch tub is an ideal alternative to a conventional hot tub or spa for those looking for something out of the ordinary. With no electrical connection or chemicals needed, our wood fired  Scotch tubs are a perfect solution to the rising electricity prices, or for those looking for an option for rural or off grid locations ( oiled tub shown). These are handpicked Whisky barrel puncheons which we have to hand pick, with only one barrel in every ten making the grade. When prepped and sanded they can be left 'natural' or oiled. They are the prefect accessory for country living and star gazing!

A stainless steel coil with a fire in provides the heat for the Scotchtub, connected with heat resis

HOW DOES IT WORK?

By thermosiphoning! What is a Thermosiphon? A thermosiphon is a passively driven thermal management device that utilizes the motive forces of natural convection and conduction.

A WHAT? Or to put it another way...using seasoned wood you start a fire ensuring a good flame. The heating process works by cold water entering the coil via the bottom pipe and as its heated by the fire it rises up the coil and re-enters the Scotch tub via the top hose in around 45 minutes (warm) 2 hours (hot hot hot) your Scotch tub is ready to use.

N.B Its a 25mm coil shown we can offer 32mm for those wanting this please email for current prices for this upgrade!

How much Maintenance?

Keeping your Scotch tub filled with water is all you need to do to keep your Scotch tub watertight. just drain off the old water, give it a rinse out with a hose pipe and refill when you want to use it and that´s about it! The oiled finish does require regular oiling, whereas the natural rustic finish requires little or no attention and can be left to weather naturally.

You can use chlorine tablets (readily available on Amazon).
